Krueng Khwan Dokmai (Thai Floral Hanging Decoration)
Krueng Khwan Dokmai is the traditional Thai art of fresh-flower decoration. Small blossoms are carefully strung, woven, or braided into intricate patterns—such as mesh-like designs or tassel-like garlands—to adorn buildings, ceremonial spaces, and sacred objects, adding beauty and a natural fragrance.
These floral hangings can be two-dimensional (flat) or three-dimensional (viewable from all sides). Sometimes, instead of fresh flowers, artisans use other materials—such as split bamboo, paper, or even plastic—to create pieces that last longer while maintaining their decorative appeal.
